With heavy hearts and profound sorrow, we honor the life and service of Deputy Jeremiah Stewart, whose passing has left an immeasurable void in the hearts of his family, friends, and colleagues. At just 36 years old, Deputy Stewart’s life was marked by courage, dedication, and an unwavering commitment to serving others.

On the morning of March 3, 2026, tragedy struck in the Ruskin–Wimauma area when a family member discovered Deputy Stewart outside his home with a self-inflicted gunshot wound. The devastating news sent shockwaves through the community and throughout the ranks of the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office, where he had faithfully served for seven years.

Deputy Stewart was more than a badge and a uniform. He was a devoted public servant who carried out his duties with integrity, professionalism, and compassion. Most recently assigned to patrol in District IV, he worked tirelessly to protect and serve the residents of Hillsborough County. Whether responding to emergencies, conducting patrols, or offering reassurance during difficult moments, he was known for his calm demeanor and steadfast reliability. To his fellow deputies, he was not just a coworker, but a brother in blue—someone they could depend on without hesitation.

Before dedicating himself to law enforcement, Deputy Stewart proudly served his country in the United States Army. Over the course of six years in the military, including a deployment to Afghanistan in 2012, he demonstrated bravery and resilience in the face of immense challenges. His military service reflected his deep sense of duty and patriotism—qualities that continued to define him long after he transitioned into civilian life.

Throughout his career, Deputy Stewart embodied the quiet strength that so many in uniform carry each day. Law enforcement officers and military veterans alike often shoulder extraordinary burdens while working to protect others.
