In Loving Memory of Emilynn Clark

In Loving Memory of Emilynn Clark

With shattered hearts and tearful eyes, the community of Vicco and the halls of Perry County Central High School mourn the heartbreaking loss of 16-year-old Emilynn Clark. A bright young life, full of promise and possibility, was tragically taken following an ATV crash on Oakwood Avenue Saturday evening.

According to WYMT, the accident occurred around 9 p.m. when the Perry County Sheriff’s Office received a call reporting the crash. Sheriff Joe Engle stated that the ATV was occupied by four individuals — two juvenile females and two adult males. The vehicle, driven by a 16-year-old female, reportedly lost control and went over a culvert-type embankment. Emilynn, who was a passenger, tragically lost her life as a result of the crash.

Another passenger, an adult male, was transported by medical helicopter to a trauma center where he is being treated for serious injuries. Authorities confirmed that the ATV is owned by Noah Back. The operator of the ATV has been charged with driving under the influence, and a search warrant was obtained for a blood sample. Those results are pending as the investigation continues.

Yet beyond the details of the accident and the ongoing legal process, today we pause to remember Emilynn for who she was — not simply how she passed. She was a daughter, a classmate, a friend, and a cherished member of her school community. She was a young woman standing at the doorway of her future, filled with dreams yet to be realized and milestones yet to be celebrated.

At Perry County Central High School, her absence will be deeply felt. Classrooms will seem quieter. Hallways will carry the weight of grief. Friends will hold tightly to memories of laughter shared, secrets whispered, and plans made for the future. The school released a heartfelt statement expressing their sorrow: “Our hearts are broken for the student’s family. Our counselors will be on hand Monday morning as a resource for our students and staff.” In moments like this, the strength of a school family becomes a source of comfort and unity.

Emilynn’s smile, her presence, and the light she brought into the lives of those around her will not be forgotten. Though her time on this earth was far too short, the love she gave and the joy she shared will live on in the hearts of everyone who knew her.

Sheriff Engle asked that the community remember these families in prayer during this incredibly difficult time. And indeed, this tragedy touches many — not only Emilynn’s loved ones, but also the families of those involved in the crash. In grief, compassion must lead the way.

There are no words that can truly ease the pain of losing a child, a friend, a classmate so young. But there is comfort in community. There is strength in shared remembrance. And there is hope that even in sorrow, love endures.

May Emilynn Clark be remembered for her life — her laughter, her kindness, and the beautiful spirit she carried. May her family find peace in the love that surrounds them. May her friends carry her memory forward in the way they live and love.

Rest gently, Emilynn. You were deeply loved, and you will never be forgotten.
