The Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office later identified the victim as Dwayne Maurice Darden, 48.

Authorities say that witnesses at the scene reported seeing a male suspect, later identified as 39-year-old Edwin Cain, approach Dwayne in the street where a verbal dispute began. According to investigators, the disagreement escalated into a physical altercation. During the confrontation, 20-year-old Joy Jones allegedly exited a nearby vehicle and fired multiple rounds, striking Dwayne.

Following the shooting, the suspects fled the scene. However, witnesses provided crucial information to officers, stating that the victim had previous incidents involving the suspects. With this information, police were able to identify and locate the individuals involved.

Both suspects were later apprehended by officers and arrested in connection with the case. Authorities confirmed that Edwin Cain and Joy Jones have been charged with Murder and are currently being held at the City of Denton Jail while the investigation continues.
