The Oklahoma Fraternal Order of Police and the El Reno Police Department have confirmed that Sergeant Thomas Duran has passed away tonight, one week after he was struck by a car while helping a pedestrian.

Sgt. Duran, a dedicated law enforcement officer and respected member of the El Reno community, had been hospitalized since the incident, fighting courageously for his life. Despite the best efforts of medical personnel and overwhelming support from fellow officers, friends, and community members, he sadly succumbed to his injuries.
