In Loving Memory of Felisha Matthews, Mileena Matthews, and Ava R. King
The Plainville community is reeling after an unthinkable tragedy struck a home on Milford Street on Friday night. In the early hours, a family was devastated by a senseless act of violence that claimed the lives of three beloved individuals: 31-year-old Felisha Matthews, 12-year-old Mileena Matthews, and 4-year-old Ava R. King.
According to the Plainville Police Department, the heartbreaking events unfolded when a woman contacted 911, reporting that her brother had admitted to harming his own daughter, his girlfriend, and intended to take his own life. Authorities quickly identified the man as 27-year-old Patrick J. King.
When officers arrived at the Milford Street residence, the neighborhood was immediately secured with police tape, as SWAT teams and multiple emergency agencies responded. Despite efforts to communicate with King, the situation escalated into a two-hour standoff. Law enforcement deployed pepper gas into the home, and tragically, King shot himself. He was transported to a nearby hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries.
