In Loving Memory of Corey Yarmock
The community of Vermilion, Ohio, is mourning the heartbreaking loss of Corey Yarmock, 35, of Amherst, whose life was tragically cut short following a two-vehicle crash on the evening of March 21, 2026. His passing has left family, friends, and loved ones in deep sorrow, as they come to terms with a loss that feels both sudden and profound.
According to troopers with the Elyria Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol, the crash occurred at approximately 7:53 p.m. along U.S. Route 6 near Sunnyside Road. Preliminary reports indicate that a 2022 Chevrolet Silverado, driven by 21-year-old Grady Watkins of Lexington, Tennessee, was stopped at a traffic light in the eastbound lane when Corey, riding a 2025 Yamaha YZF-R7 motorcycle, was unable to maintain an assured clear distance and struck the rear of the vehicle.
Emergency responders arrived swiftly at the scene, including personnel from the Vermilion Police Department, Vermilion Fire Department, LifeCare Ambulance EMS, and D&A Towing. Corey was transported with life-threatening injuries, and despite the efforts of first responders and medical personnel, he later succumbed to those injuries. He was wearing a helmet at the time, and every possible effort was made to save his life.
While the driver of the Silverado was unharmed, the tragedy of that evening rests heavily on the loss of Corey—a man whose life held meaning, connection, and purpose far beyond the circumstances of the accident.
Corey Yarmock will be remembered not for the way his life ended, but for the way he lived. He was a son, a friend, and a valued member of his community. Those who knew him will recall his personality, his presence, and the unique energy he brought into the lives of others. Whether through shared experiences, meaningful conversations, or quiet moments of companionship, Corey left a lasting impression on those fortunate enough to know him.
He had a passion for the open road, a love that many who ride understand deeply. It was more than a mode of transportation—it was a sense of freedom, of clarity, of being fully alive in the moment. That spirit of freedom reflected who Corey was: someone who embraced life with courage and authenticity.
In the wake of this tragedy, the Vermilion and Amherst communities have come together, offering prayers, condolences, and support to Corey’s family and loved ones. The pain of losing someone so suddenly is immense, but it is met with an outpouring of compassion and unity that speaks to the impact he had on those around him.
As the investigation into the crash continues, loved ones are left to hold onto the memories that truly define Corey—the laughter he shared, the friendships he built, and the moments that will forever remain etched in their hearts. These memories now serve as a source of comfort and strength during an incredibly difficult time.
Corey’s life, though tragically shortened, was meaningful and impactful. His story does not end with this loss—it continues through the lives he touched, the love he gave, and the memories that will never fade.
May Corey Yarmock rest in peace. May his family find solace in the love that surrounds them, and may his memory live on as a lasting light in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
