With profound sadness and heavy hearts, we remember and honor the life of Lai La, whose life was tragically lost following a devastating three-vehicle collision on the Liberty Bridge in Pittsburgh.

At approximately 12:52 p.m., officers with the Pittsburgh Bureau of Police were dispatched to the Liberty Bridge after reports of a serious crash. Upon arrival, they encountered a horrific scene involving three vehicles, one of which was engulfed in flames. Inside the burning vehicle were three occupants who were pinned within.

In an extraordinary display of courage and urgency, responding officers worked quickly to extinguish the fire and extricate those trapped inside. An adult male and an adult female were rescued and transported to a nearby hospital in critical condition. Tragically, Lai La, an adult female passenger in the vehicle, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The Pittsburgh Bureau of Fire also responded to assist, along with paramedics from the Pittsburgh Bureau of EMS. The adult male occupant of the second vehicle was evaluated on scene and did not require transport, while the adult occupant of the third vehicle was transported to a local hospital in stable condition. The Pittsburgh Police Accident Investigation Unit has been called to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.
