In Loving Memory of Michael Mingey
The community of Lancaster and the surrounding areas of Junction City and Danville are mourning the heartbreaking loss of Michael Mingey, 27, whose life was tragically cut short on the evening of March 3, 2026. What began as an ordinary Tuesday night ended in sorrow, leaving family, friends, and neighbors grappling with grief and disbelief.
According to authorities, the Kentucky State Police, Richmond Post, was contacted just before 9:30 p.m. regarding a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of US-127 (Hustonville Road) and West Shelby Street in Boyle County. The crash involved a 2023 black Hyundai Elantra driven by Michael and a 2023 black Dodge Durango operated by a deputy with the Boyle County Sheriff’s Office.
Preliminary investigations indicate that as the deputy was attempting to make a left turn onto West Shelby Street while traveling northbound on US-127, Michael was driving southbound on the same roadway. In a tragic sequence of events, his vehicle struck the deputy’s SUV within the intersection. The collision had devastating consequences.
Michael was transported to Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center, where medical personnel worked diligently to save him. Despite their efforts, he succumbed to his injuries. Boyle County Coroner Eric Guerrant later pronounced him deceased, marking the end of a young life filled with promise.
Though official reports detail the facts of the collision, they cannot fully capture the depth of loss felt by those who knew and loved Michael. At just 27 years old, he stood at a crossroads of adulthood — building dreams, nurturing relationships, and shaping a future that now exists only in memory.
Those who knew Michael remember him not for the tragedy that claimed his life, but for the light he brought into theirs. He was known for his kindness, his easy smile, and his unwavering loyalty to the people he cared about. Whether spending time with family, sharing laughter with friends, or working toward his goals, Michael lived with a quiet determination and a genuine heart.
In moments like these, communities come together — not only to mourn, but to support one another. The Boyle County Deputy, Zach King, who sustained non-life-threatening injuries in the crash, also carries the weight of this tragic night. Incidents such as these remind us how fragile life can be and how quickly circumstances can change.
Detective Tyler Holt continues to lead the ongoing investigation, assisted by personnel from the Kentucky State Police, the Boyle County Sheriff’s Office, Danville EMS, Boyle County Fire Department, Danville City Fire Department, Junction City Fire Department, and the Boyle County Coroner’s Office. Their professionalism and commitment during such difficult circumstances reflect the shared desire for clarity, accountability, and healing.
As Michael’s loved ones prepare to lay him to rest, they do so with broken hearts but enduring love. Grief may linger, but so too will the memories — of conversations shared, milestones celebrated, and quiet everyday moments that now feel infinitely precious.
To his family, may you find comfort in the outpouring of support from your community. To his friends, may you carry forward his spirit in the laughter you share and the loyalty you show one another. And to all who hear his story, may it serve as a solemn reminder to cherish every journey and every moment.
Michael Mingey’s life, though far too brief, mattered deeply. He will be remembered not only in sorrow, but in love — the kind that time cannot erase.
May he rest in peace.
